Winfield Warriors Capture 2026 Class 3 District 3 Softball Championship The Winfield Lady Warriors are 2026 Class 3 District 3 Softball Champions! Winfield defeated Wright City on Wednesday night to claim another district title and add to the storied history of the Warrior softball program. After surrendering a home run to Wright City in the first inning, the Warriors showed their resilience, settled in, and made key adjustments at the plate. Those adjustments paid off in a big way, as Winfield erupted for five runs in the fourth inning and added four more in the sixth to build its momentum and secure the championship victory. Hannah Sheppard led the offensive attack, reaching base in all four plate appearances with three hits and a walk. Her outstanding performance earned her the coveted Warrior Chain as the game's MVP! Rylie Van Cleve helped set the tone at the top of the lineup, while Sianna Bals delivered a timely sacrifice fly in the third inning to give Winfield the lead. In the circle, Ava Dixon continued her dominant season, striking out 12 Wright City batters. Along the way, Dixon reached an impressive milestone, recording her 200th strikeout of the season! Ella Ohlms also made a significant impact offensively, collecting two doubles and driving in two runs. The Warriors' ability to stay composed, make adjustments, and deliver in key moments proved to be the difference. This championship marks the third district title in the last five seasons for Winfield softball, a testament to the hard work, determination, and tradition of excellence within the program. Following the victory, the coaching staff expressed tremendous pride in the team's effort and accomplishments, highlighting the group's resilience and ability to respond to adversity. The celebration will be short-lived as the Lady Warriors turn their attention to the next challenge. Winfield will travel to Centralia on Saturday for the State Quarterfinals, with a spot in the state semifinals on the line. Congratulations to our Lady Warriors on an outstanding accomplishment! Warrior pride is strong as we continue the postseason journey. Go Warriors!
